Bariatric Surgery
Weight-loss surgery for patients with morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 35 with comorbidity, or ≥ 40 without). It is not cosmetic surgery — it is a metabolic operation that reliably reverses type-2 diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnoea.
Symptoms
Failed non-surgical weight-loss attempts, joint pain, breathlessness on exertion, poorly-controlled diabetes or blood pressure, and obstructive sleep apnoea.
Recent advances in management
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass are performed through 4–5 keyhole ports with same-week discharge. Enhanced-recovery protocols, staple-line reinforcement and structured lifelong nutritional follow-up have made outcomes both safer and more durable.
